so i was mugged last night. guy took my purse, which had in it my phone, my wallet, my camera. like 2 steps from my apartment too! of course it could be a million times worse: it's just money; it's just an inconvenience.
so there was going to be a post right here gushing about the absolutely delightful time i had with the warm wonderful people at the san antonio winery (last night they hosted a generous blogger event -- such an impressive and evocative space they have there!). i had some lovely pictures of the barrel rooms, the bottling facility, and the super-friendly group of people we spent the evening with.
i do hope to eventually write that post, although, sans photos. once i get everything squared away with officer this and detective that though. in the meantime, let me just mention that they're having an event this month where they're pairing wines with a variety of mama's hot tamales (if you don't know about mama's fantastic tamal-centered non-profit co-op, really, read the link. great stuff). that's right, tamales and wine downtown. rad. i love los angeles.
despite, well, you know.
bummer--glad you're okay!! I, too, visited San Antonio and need to write about it--but I've been in DC for a crazy work week. Anyway, that's why I haven't answered your email either--I will soon. I am intrigued by the Winery's tamale event--I love both tamales and wine :)
ReplyDeleteoh no! so sorry to hear about the mugging. it was really good meeting you at the winery and we're looking forward to seeing you again at the tamale event.
ReplyDeleteerin - evidently we've both been busy =). i have a dc recommendation for you, although i'm not sure you'll get to it. the Tabard Inn is an adorable boutique hotel with a gorgeous restaurant (as well as nooks and crannies throughout the hotel where you can order dessert and coffee): tabardinn.com.
ReplyDeleteand maria, it was great meeting you guys and your adorable evan too!
OH TZ!!! I hope you're feeling better. Boo on muggers. Boo! HUGS.
ReplyDeleteHave they apprehended the villains yet? I would stab them in the throat with a sharpened spork. I'm sorry for your trauma but I'm glad tos ee that your bloggie powers transcend this temporary nightmare. Also, are you kosher now then? And if so, do you renounce all the porky goodness at Inoteca?
ReplyDeleteannie, i don't think they're gonna find them, but i plan to walk around with a spork on my keychain from now on.
ReplyDeleteand no, i'm not kosher, nor can i possibly denounce anything about 'inoteca -- even the snooty fashionista eye candy was delicious. i feel like there's another post in me about why *not* to be kosher (about being a world citizen and all that business), but i'd prefer talk of this kosher business to be a seasoning and not the main course around these parts.. it gets a little suffocating, even for me.
Yikes! I always hate to hear those stories. However, of all the people I've heard about having their purse snatched--none have suffered any physical harm. Thank goodness for that! AND, the tamale event sounds cool. I've never visited the winery but have wanted to. Perhaps this is a good opoortunity.
ReplyDeleteagreed, acme -- i'm counting my blessings! i could have fared much, much worse. and yes, the tamale even does sound very cool. you will not regret visiting the winery. it's amazing to know there is such an inviting and romantic (not to mention vital and fruitful) wine producer in our own downtown!
ReplyDeleteUgh... Tannaz! that truly sucks :( where were you? man.... not fun at all! Scary thing to happen. You sound to be doing well and not too shaken up... though I would be. Loving you blog as always :)
